Our Partners

Stawi x Ocean Sole

We have partnered with Ocean Sole to create these colorful, fun bands that come in a variety of colorways and themes, which can also be custom ordered. Ocean Sole is known for its vibrant carvings made from discarded flip-flop waste collected from Kenya’s beaches and cities. Celebrated for tackling environmental sanitation challenges, Ocean Sole previously used leftover scrap foam from the carving process to make mattresses for underprivileged people in refugee camps and the KSPCA shelter. The silver used in our pieces is recycled from disfigured and unwanted pre-existing jewellery, which we smelt and refine to the required purity of 925 before crafting.

The clear tube in our designs is made from food-grade vinyl collected with the help of a local garbage collection company that gathers waste from Nairobi’s streets, industries, and residential areas. Polyurethane and polyvinyl are both non-biodegradable plastics that often end up in waterways and landfills — with polyvinyl taking an average of 450 years to decompose. By repurposing such decay-proof materials in jewellery, we extend their lifespan in a meaningful way.

Our goal with this project is to reduce waste as close to net zero as possible by transforming discarded materials into durable jewellery pieces that can be cherished for generations.

Stawi x Kazuri

Behold our collection of game-patterned rings inspired by the beauty and intricacies of African wildlife. Each piece combines precious silver and Kazuri ceramic beads, crafted from special earthen ingredients gathered from the Mt. Kenya region, to capture the spirit of the enchanting savannah. Kazuri, meaning “small and beautiful” in Swahili, is a women-led social enterprise known for its hand-crafted, fired, and painted ceramic jewellery made entirely in Kenya.

STAWI brings creativity, authenticity, and value to these ceramic crafts, adding fluidity and sustainability to local industries while supporting meaningful livelihoods. Through our creations, we aim to diversify opportunities and enhance the use of human and natural resources for shared growth.

Stawi is synonymous with thrive or prosper in Swahili language…Together we can flourish, “Pamoja twaweza Kustawi!” To make these long-term goals happen, we surely need alot of insight, co-operation & luck. Let us learn from yesterday, improve today to create the best version of tomorrow.
